Trick or Treating done. Another couple of halloween parties over the weekend, bonfire night next week and then it'll be xmas!! Arrghhhh, now that is scary.
In support (not competition) of my Dad's resolution to record the year and take more photographs, we're going for a photo a day in 2013. Here's my efforts, we'll see how long we last, or who fails first!

Not tempting fate but might have to purchase cup final tickets come February. (Have to take the re man in case we never get to another one!!)
Impressive to come through 2-0 after playing 78minutes of the game with 10 men.

Thankfully Sunday football now inside for the winter months.
Pretty impressive facility at The Sports Village, particularly the covered full sized artificial turf pitch covered in shredded rubber pieces for players comfort.

An afternoon of spring cleaning and toy sorting results in the reclamation of some unchartered territory in the living room.
This bit of the floor hasn't seen the light of day for at least 9months.
No doubt it won't be long before the space is filled again.

Autumnal colours in the village square at Rhynie today. Was very cold and wet but the vibrant tree colours made it look warmer.

Holiday week nearing an end. Feels like more than the 5 days we've been away with a lot packed in.
Froze on the Cairngorm Plateau meeting the reindeer herd this morning, quick wander and chipper lunch in Aviemore followed by an afternoon 10 mile cycle with the kids (10 miles off road on a BMX isn't bad for 7 year old) and very nice early tea/refreshment at the local hotel to round it off.
To remember the rubiks cube that is car packing tomorrow and then head home back to reality of a weekend of football, golf, weekly shop and housework.....
Just caught the Hogwarts Express, aka Speyside railway steam train, passing through the valley while out on our afternoon cycle, but typical that I'd just put the DSLR back in the bag beside the bike so only had the phone camera to catch it on.

Family Gladiators 'The Wall'
Well impressed with son number 01 getting to the top and not being frozen solid scared on the tarzan trail rope course up in the trees. (no comment on Mum's face while she went round!!)

Not normal that I get a choice of photos for the blog, so out of the couple of hundred snaps today, I've cheated and picked a couple.

Still and peaceful on the way into Loch Morlich this afternoon.
Sun was trying to come out between fits of mist and thick cloud cover.

Brighter in the Highlands than it was when we left home this morning, but still very low cloud over the surrounding hills.

Car bike rack prepared and fitted - check...
Packing list written - check...
Kids hyper - check...
DSLR/i-device batteries charged - check...

18 hours till the holiday officially begins. Hope the rain rains itself out overnight and it's dry, if not warm in the Highlands from tomorrow.
Hopefully be some better efforts for photo of the day when I have some time to spend with the DSLR for the next 6 days, while I'm not chained to a desk for 9 hours and then in the dark for the remaining 15 hours of the day, thats the target anyway.....we'll see.......

Today's tools of the trade, some could do with a sharpen though. Colouring in isn't a simple as it used to be at school though!

Low lying early morning haar in the valley between Kingswells and
Westhill this morning. A bit eery as you drive through it from darkness
to light into the sunshine again.

The hardy little souls that live with us. Must be a whole new eco-system in there as they thrive without too much effort or feeding.

13 October 2013
First Sunday in months that we haven't had to be somewhere at a specific time for swimming, parties or football, but it still ended up hectic.
Shopping done, house tidied and then we managed an afternoon cycle to the park via the first American Football Game held in Aberdeen for 3 years.
Park is full of fallen crisp brown leaves. Snow forecast in he near future, so not many more sunday cycles to be had.

Conkers that the boys collected at the weekend have now matured from white to brown.
Don't think they'll be hard enough to string up properly but we'll give it a go when we get a spare half hour.
